A native of San Angelo, Texas, Julie holds a degree in Child Development and Family Studies from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master’s Degree from Texas Tech University in Family Consumer Science Education. Her career combines 20 years in education as a high school teacher and community health educator with expertise in youth development, leadership, and culinary arts. Julie started cooking in her mother’s kitchen and grew into a catering business following college. Julie has turned years of teaching foods & nutrition classes and her love of cooking into fun, two hour classes. Guests will experience warm hospitality, great food and the fun of cooking with friends.
Julie’s Table is a casual cooking school located at Halfmann Farms in Vancourt, Texas where Julie lives with her husband, Kevin, and daughter, Elizabeth, along with a menagerie of pets. Sons James and Thomas are college students attending Texas Tech University. The family operates a farmer’s market business and Julie teaches cooking classes featuring “farm to table” produce utilizing her training as a nationally-certified culinary educator. Julie’s Table is dedicated to the preparation and enjoyment of delicious, seasonal food and strives to inspire the home cook to expand his/her range of skills and recipes by learning new cooking techniques and sampling fresh and seasonal foods.
A portion of the profits from Julie’s Table classes will be donated to West Texas Counseling & Guidance to support mental health education in the Concho Valley. Julie is passionate about the value of mental health services and knows firsthand how important they can be. She believes education is key to removing the stigma that surrounds mental health issues and is committed to promoting awareness of information and resources for all.
